Physics Tuition in Stirling and Online Across Scotland

I provide personalised Physics tuition for students studying:

• National 5 Physics

• Higher Physics

• Advanced Higher Physics

I am a fully registered and experienced Physics teacher based in Stirling. Alongside my classroom teaching, I have national marking experience and continue to work with Qualifications Scotland during marking periods.

This gives me valuable first-hand knowledge of national assessment standards, how marks are awarded and the common mistakes that can prevent students from gaining full credit. I use this experience to help students improve their understanding, develop stronger problem-solving skills and approach assessments with greater confidence.

Please note that, for professional reasons, I am unable to provide private tuition to current pupils of McLaren High School. 

My Approach

Every student has different strengths, areas for development and preferred ways of learning. Sessions are therefore planned around the individual rather than following a fixed programme.

Tuition can support students who need to:

• Improve their understanding of course content

• Develop calculation and problem-solving skills

• Revise for assessments and examinations

• Catch up after missed learning

• Build confidence

• Improve the structure and quality of written answers

I use clear explanations, worked examples, diagrams, practice questions and digital resources to make challenging ideas easier to understand. Sessions are active and focused, with students encouraged to work through problems, ask questions and explain their thinking.

Online Tuition 

Online tuition is available throughout Scotland using Google Meet.

Sessions are designed to be interactive and effective, with resources, worked examples and questions shared directly during the lesson. Students can participate from home while receiving focused explanations and individual support.

Online tuition costs £30 per hour.

Online tuition is available as either a one-off session or as part of a regular tuition arrangement.

In-Person Tuition 

In-person tuition may be available at the student’s home within the areas listed below. 

In-person tuition costs between £30 and £40 per hour, depending on the location and travel required. The exact price will be agreed before any sessions are booked. Relevant printed learning materials may also be provided at no additional cost.

In-person tuition days and times are quite limited, and I cannot guarantee that every request can be accommodated. Please get in touch to discuss your location, availability and the support required.

A combination of online and in-person tuition may also be arranged.

Regular Tuition

Students who require regular tuition should email james@physictuition.services to discuss availability and arrange a recurring time.

Regular students receive access to a dedicated Google Classroom containing:

• Course resources

• Revision materials

• Practice questions

• Worked examples

• Additional learning activities

Once a regular time has been agreed, sessions can be block-booked so that the student does not need to use the public booking form each week.

Small-Group Tuition for Regular Students 

Small-group tuition is available by request only and must form part of a recurring tuition arrangement.

I do not arrange or form tuition groups. However, the main person making the booking may ask to include additional students, such as friends or classmates who are studying at the same level and would benefit from working together.

The prices for a one-hour online session are:

• Individual student: £30

• Two students: £40

• Three students: £50

A group of no more than three students is recommended so that each student can still receive appropriate support and individual attention.

Each student attending regular group tuition must be registered and added to the dedicated Google Classroom.

In-person group tuition may also be available as part of a regular tuition arrangement. Please get in touch to discuss the location, group size, availability and total cost.
